Session Sound

They're offering 100% of the sales price with no other fees to the artist. How do they make money you ask? They charge buyers a 5% fee on top of the mp3 price. Not a bad idea - it makes it feel like the buyers are paying sessionsound, and not the artists. It has a pretty cool interface, simply put. This profile last updated 2008-06-30.

Services:
  • sell your mp3s
  • sell your CDs
  • allows users to preview your music
  • only allows preview clips (not full-length) of music
  • sponsors contests
  • Other services: They'll manufacture CDs for you on-demand if you subscribe to their premium service, though I haven't yet run into the details about what that is - have you?

I put "clip only" as the music preview length because I got an error every time I tried to listen (and couldn't get in touch with customer service to figure it out).

Costs:
  • Other costs: Again, no costs to the artist. A pretty cool concept if you ask me. What listener would say no to an extra 5%? I love the idea that the listeners pay the music companies, not the artists.
*-heads up: I was unable to verify this information with Session Sound. Either I couldn't find their email address, or my emails to customer service were not returned
